Motherboard Options

In the Protocase BackBlaze enclosure, I notice the two I have looked
at use ATX Motherboards. Is there enough room for a Extended ATX?

Hello the group,

What do you think about the Asus Z8NAD6C (http://www.asus.com/
Server_Workstation/Server_Motherboards/Z8NAD6C/#specifications) ?
It can handle 2 CPUs, lots of RAM, southbridge is ICH10, plus it has 6
SATA2 controllers on the board, which means we only need one more PCI
card with 4 controllers.
Do you think the onboard controllers can be connected to the port
multipliers backplanes without problem ?

We have this motherboard in our lab. When we tested it, the Intel SATA
chipset (or merely the drivers I guess) didn't support
port-multipliers.

Argh, too bad as this is supposed to be supported :(
I plan to run my pods with Linux and I have seen some drivers updates
for Linux (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?
agr=Y&DwnldID=18570&lang=eng). Perhaps with a recent Linux distro,
like Ubuntu server 11.04, it could work ?

AFAIR are the 6 SATA ports actually 2 (with both being port-multiplied
to yield 6 ports).
Also possible, I'm totally wrong on this.
