Who wants to help me organise an evening installfest in Melbourne?

It would be great to find someone who has played with it a bit but if it's the blind leading the blind I'm sure we'll get somewhere!

Mike,

Do you have a planned venue?
I'd be happy to try and get our offices (160 Quenn St. Good Pub Irish
times nearby) as a venue.
Other than projector and 30 seating, can't offer more than moral
support - if that helps as I guessing the Pub alone would not welcome
an outright "install-anything-fest".
A Melbourne footprint is important.

Mark Nottingham @mnot has suggested a Melbourne meetup in the New Year.

I think he's started working on OpenStack for Rackspace. It would be great to  have Mark there for a variety of reasons so I'd suggest we co ordinate with him for when he gets back from OS.

I'm tempted to install and play with OpenStack between Xmas and NYE. Perhaps we could get a small number of people together with the same idea and see what we can achieve over a day or two? I usually like to play with new technology over that period. Depending on numbers it could be in an office or at someone's house?

What do you think?

I think this is incredibly exciting technology and would love learn it with others who are similarly enthusiastic.

Is cool - let me know what folk think and want - I'm happy to go along.

There's a couple of function rooms in pubs around Carlton - such as at
the Prince Alfred Hotel, which I believe is free during weekdays sans
Friday. No network though, so no good for an installfest - but a
potential for a pub meetup such as in Sydney style.

There's a training room at VPAC (http://www.vpac.org) which gets used
a bit in the university sector, perhaps ...

Regards,

Tom
