synopsis
This is the story of a tribal boy who wants to become a singer, in the capital city of a poor and tribal dominated province in India, whose parents want him to be an officer. It is his journey to become a singer in that town where audio tape technology is the only available medium of expression to these communities. In the age of a market economy, the film tells his personal journey, love, betrayal and also showcases the musical tradition and caste system in this new economical system.
Brief bio of the director
Shriprakash is the first doc film maker from Jharkhand, who has won 8 international awards for his doc films and first in state who got Rajat Kamal(National film award) for best non fiction film.
The films of Shriprakash have got entries in the major international film festivals, his first Nagpuri Fiction Baha got entry in the international film festival in Berlin. This is a historic moment for Jharkhand, considering that “Baha” happens to be the first regional language fiction film from the state, having got such an honour.
