for the purpose of drastically simplifying the authentication code
(and improving security with regards to password storage and reset),
i'll be pushing a new authlogic branch to github this weekend. the
openid add-on will also be included.

the caveat is this new code will modify two of the earlier migration
files:
001_create_people.rb
013_add_admin.rb

although this is generally considered bad practice, it seems the
benefits far outweigh the costs. the cost will be that existing
installations will need to re-encrypt passwords which is easy and
should have no impact to accounts. i'll be happy to help anyone who
is affected by this change.

if i don't hear any objections by wednesday, i will merge the
authlogic branch into master.

cheers,
tom
