Hi there,

I tried to install Turnkeys exporter plugin for Inkscape. I followed the guide very precisely and didn't run into any errors. However, when I open Inkscape (even after re-opening and rebooting) the plugin doesn't appear in the extensions drop-down menu. I'm running 64 bit Windows 8.1.

Has anyone ran into the same problem? Or does someone know a solution for this?

Thanks in advance,

Kind regards,

It should be in Extensions>Export

Hopefully someone more knowledgable about Windows will jump in and help you troubleshoot and get Turnkey's plugin working for you.

In the meantime, if raster etching isn't what you're after, I'd recommend trying Fusion360 for doing vector cutting and etching. It's pretty awesome and free for non-commercial use. It has a built in post processor for Smoothie based lasers and I've also posted a version for Marlin.

I have the same problem on an XPS 15.  Unable to get a solution and Turnkey hasn't been able to help.  It'd be useful to say you've had the same problem.

I've reinstalled numerous times, followed the instructions to the letter.  I've now upgraded to windows 10 and still have same issue.  I've tried the plugin in the general plugins area and in the user specific area for plugins (that's the one under the user profile > app > plugins directory) with no luck.  I've changed all the permissions to everyone and anyone read/write etc.  No idea.  Completely flumxed.

Have installed it on a tablet with 8.1 with the same downloads and it works fine.

Only thing I've not tried is disabling every other programme at startup just in case.

I had the same problem on one of my PC's. What worked for me was to install  the 32bit version of Inkscape instead of the 64bit version. Hope this will work for you.

Tried both multiple times :)  Thanks though I'll have another go maybe next weekend.

OK I found the "fix"

When I went to the git webpage, I stupidly used right click, "save as".  This saved the webpage and not the actual file

Having opened in notepad and compared to the original, it was obvious what the problem was.  I copied and pasted the info directly into the extensions file.

Also note that you need to right click on the file > properties and click "unblock file" checkbox in windows 10 on each file.

All working now...
