Hi Gareth,

I've been meaning to ask this for ages, and never get around to it... I used to use a Windows programme called Worship Assistant, which worked really well as a song database and set creator, although OSA then surpassed it in many ways not least in its ability to run off a tablet. However, the one thing I miss from Worship Assistant was that from the song screen I could easily track how often I'd used a song, and sort songs by how often they'd been used. That was incredibly helpful both in terms of not overusing songs, and also for quickly finding songs that I could be confident people knew.

Is there currently any way of doing that either in OSA, or indeed in OpenSong on Windows itself? If not, is that something that you would consider adding?

Many thanks as ever,

Ian

The app already has the option to log how often a song is viewed, however, this isn't part of the song menu (yet).

There are two ways in which you can track song usage in the app.  One is enabled by default:
  1. About app > App usage logs > song view log:  This generates a csv (comma separated values text based file) that lists every song you have viewed on the app.  This, however, will track each time you view a song, so isn't necessarily when it was used as part of a service, however, the logs are date/time stamped.  You can view this using any spreadsheet software (Google Sheet, Excel, etc).
  2. CCLI > CCLI log:  Make sure to switch on the option to record usage stats automatically on this page too.  It will note down specific CCLI usage history.  Likely the most useful one for you and you can check for usage action 5 (chromecast presented) or action 6 (added to a set).  You can view this log directly in the app, or export it as a csv file again.
I'm currently having a play with a way to do this in future!

Best wishes,
Gareth

How does something like this look?:

You will be able to pull up the song analytics from a new option at the bottom of the song menu '+' options

This will be in the next release.

That looks brilliant Gareth - outstanding work as always!

Question: it obviously increments a counter if a song is added to a set, but would that counter be reduced accordingly if the song is removed from the set again? (It would be helpful if it was!)

I'll look forward to trying it out in the flesh!

Grace and peace,

Ian
