Was there an update with the app?  my page turner is no longer working.  the app unpairs the turner.  when I re pair, the app restarts itself and does the same thing?  I use this app for my live shows.  I really need the page turner to function.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Yes there has been a recent update, but nothing that should be causing the issue you are having.  There was an update in January to try to improve the connection of MIDI bluetooth devices (where they have to be paired in the app).  This update (in January) disconnected devices that were already paired to force a reconnection.  I wonder if this is also disconnecting the pedal.  I'll investigate, but if you've regularly updated, this would have been picked up before now.  Did you manually update the app recently?

Can I check if you are connecting the airturn in mode 7 (MIDI mode).  If you are, then you need to reconnect the pedal in the MIDI devices page once you start the app.  BluetoothLE requires that the app deals with the connection.  If you are using the pedal as a simple bluetooth device sending key commands (such as arrow buttons, page up, etc.), the app shouldn't disconnect it.

I have auto update set on my tablet so I don’t think that was it. I use setting one on the airturn duo. It stopped working on Wednesday when I went to use it. When I played the Sunday before that it worked perfect. I love the app

Ok, can you check a few other thinks for me:

Download the AirTurn app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.airturn.airturnmanager) and make sure your pedal is on the latest firmware.

Are you able to reconnect/pair the AirTurn from your settings menu after OpenSong starts up?  This would check if it was the app removing it on boot up.

I'm assuming that the pedal stays paired when other apps start up and it's only OpenSongApp that is causing this issue

The page turner stays paired with all other apps.

When I open open songapp it disconnects the Bluetooth

If I open the app and then turn on Bluetooth the app will close down and reopen itself and that disconnects the Bluetooth

I tried resetting the page turner last night and that did not resolve either

I also downloaded airturn manager and that did not resolve the issue

I don't have an AirTurn pedal to test with, but I'll dig out my older pedal today and see if I can see this happening with that.

Hi,

I'm assuming your device has had an update recently?  I found a similar issue on my new phone (Pixel 10).  Searching online, I've found out that Android 14/15 can interfere with Bluetooth HID devices (pedals) and found the following information:

Troubleshooting Bluetooth Pedal on Pixel Devices
On Pixel phones running Android 14 or newer, make sure Developer option → “ADB Bluetooth handover” is turned off. Otherwise, the pedal may connect but send no key events.

I tried this on my Pixel 10 and this made the pedal work again.  I don't see this issue on my Samsung S9FE tablet at all.  Can you try the setting above.

If you've never used developer options on your phone, it's easy to do.  Go to your Android settings and find the information listed as Build number (quite often this is found on the About device page).  Tap it repeatedly (approx 7 times I think) and it will tell you you have enabled developer settings.  Once you have enabled developer settings, open them up.  Usually there is a new Developer settings option under the System settings page.  Scroll down until you find the Disable ADB Bluetooth A2DP hardware offload settings and switch it on.  You will likely have to restart your device.

Can you let me know if this helps?

Gareth
