Hello everyone, I'm new to OpenSong, and trying to figure it out.  When I import songs, somehow they get duplicated or appear in triplicate.  Also, when I assign a root file, it makes another copy of the folder 'OpenSong' within 'Opensong' and it indexes every single folder in the OpenSong folder -- so backgrounds, other random files, appear in my song list.  When I try to erase the second OpenSong folder, the program crashes, and when I reboot it adds that file folder back in, and then it won't find any of my songs in the 'Song' folder.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Derek

Hi Derek,

That sounds like a file permissions issue.  Android creates new file versions (1), (2), etc. if it can't overwrite the file.  Can you let me know which version of Android and the app you are running

It sounds like you have (at some point) changed the ROOT folder location and wrongly pointed it to the OpenSong/Songs folder.  This means that the app will create a fresh OpenSong folder inside your songs folder and all of the subdirectories and files it requires.  There is a big warning that appears on the select storage page if the app detects that you are trying to do this:
The only way to repair this is to use a file manager and delete the OpenSong/Songs/OpenSong folder.  You may wish to check that the OpenSong/Songs/OpenSong/Songs/  folder does not contain songs you want to keep.  If it does, copy them and paste them inside the OpenSong/Songs/ folder first.

Thank you Gareth, that helped. I ended up deleting and reinstalling the app because I had done it a few times and there were multiple opensong folders. I think I picked the wrong folder when I first downloaded it. Anyways it seems to be working now, as I did it right this time. I just saved my songs and transferred them over.

All the best,

Derek
