Best synching solution in 2026

Thanks for the great program, I see a lot of attractive features of OpensongApp.  Many thanks to the developer and all who have contributed to this community!

I have two devices, one being a standard Android phone, the second a Chromebook with Google Play Store operating.  I've installed OpenSongApp on both.

What is the best, most-reliable way to keep these two devices OpenSongApp in sync?  I have access to the normal cloud solutions (Box, OneDrive, Google Drive) as well as syncthing and AWS.  The trouble is that each install directory includes multiple subfolders, and I am not exactly sure which folder and files to sync on each device.  

If this is not practical, it shouldn't be a huge issue.  I probably update my songs periodically, and could surely just export/backup on one, and import on the other.  (But what is the fun in that!?)

I did poke around this Group, but it seems that the most relevant threads are several years old, so unclear what the current "best approach".

Really good to have you on board!

Be aware that Android apps on Chromebook can be a little troublesome since they run ina fanfic, meaning accessing the storage from ChromeOS is quite restricted. 

I would highly recommend using a third party app such as DriveSync along with Google Drive.

The folder to synchronise is OpenSong/ which is the root folder.  That way, all of your songs and sets (regardless of sub folders) get synchronised. 

When you change or at/delete a song on one device, you run the DriveSync sync option (two way) on that device and then again on the other device.  When the app starts, if you have changed it added songs, you need to run the full index again.  This is what I do.

Thanks so much for your swift response!

I understand that there are likely some potential issues using OpensongApp (and syncing) on a Chromebook, using the Google Android app environment.  But I have, at least for now, some incentive to make it work.  I'm also keen to consider opensource options such as syncthing.  I'm not a coder, but a big fan of FOSS.  And, if we can figure something like that out, maybe you can integrate syncthing right into your code (I know, we are a long way from getting there).

Thanks for the clarification on what to sync.  Just to confirm my understanding, I sync the entire OpenSong root directory on the two devices, then run a full index on both to catch up on the various changes made by the sync.   I'll keep you posted!

Wow, this codebase is very deep, developed and impressive.  I'm reading now about the options for API calls (all within the app, how many apps do that!?).  Very impressive!!!  I'll continue to keep reading and will try out some of the features as I go.  Thanks again for sharing your talents with this community!
