Annoying bug

Hi,
I have faced an annoying bug. Occasionally a song gets stuck, the app refuses to change it. Swiping, selecting a new song from the song list or set list doesn't work. This appears specially if the song is not changed around 5 minutes.

What could be wrong?

I’m trying to clarify if this is an "App not responding" (ANR) error, which would imply the app is completely freezing and preventing all interaction (e.g., clicking or swiping).

You mentioned that selecting a new song from the song list or set list doesn’t work. Does this mean you can open the song list menu but selecting a song fails, or is the app completely unresponsive when you try to open the menu?

Also, does the app try to load the new song—for example, does the screen slide out and then slide back in, but with the original song still displayed?

I've only ever seen this once when using a set list and something gets corrupted meaning the app couldn't figure out what song was being shown and what should be shown next, but from memory, it ended up saying the song couldn't be found.  I often leave the app with a song open during a break in my gig (approx 15mins) and haven't seen this behaviour.  If you are able to reproduce the error on a regular basis, a list of steps that cause it would be useful, or a video if possible.

Yes, this is exactly how the app behaves. I can do any other thing, but change the song. 

At least one time this behaviour went away when I went to settings and back.

I too have had this happen.  It has happened several times over the last several months. 
I select a new song from the list and the same song comes up.  Retries are no help.  I have had to close the app and restart it to get to my next song.

If anyone can identify what they did just before this happened (e.g. were they in a set, selecting something not in the set from the song menu, selecting something from the set menu, rearranging a set, etc.) it would be really useful.  I've deliberately been trying to break something to cause this on my test device and can't reproduce it.  Also, can you let me know which version you are running (hopefully the most up to date).

If I can reproduce the error, I can fix it!

Hi,
I have been singing the song (song view), and then tried to swipe next song or go to next song through set list or song list. None of these will work when the but occurs. 

Is there more verbose logging mode in the app?

There are a few logs created found in OpenSong/Settings/
  • fileWriteActivity.txt
  • fileHistory.csv
  • crashLog.txt
These won't necessarily give much info, but might be worth sending them to me.  If you can remember the name of the song that kept getting stuck and/or the date this last happened, that might help me target those files (you may not have all of these).
