Some questions regarding orkut application directory listing & updates

hi all,
we've created an orkut application which is almost ready. now i
want to support multiple themes to the applications. but that i want
to do after launching it and running some time on orkut. so i am
planning to submit this application for directory listing.
so here are some confusions from my side:

1) how can i submit my application for directory listing? i have my
application on my own server and i want to server the contents from
there, if its possible

2) After launching and getting my application listed, how can i add
some more themes to my applications, what is the exact procedure to do
it, i prefer not to loose my existing users and comments

3) can i directly apply changes that are not specific to application
xml file? should i inform or email orkut team for this?

1. If your web server is accessible to the public Internet (e.g. you
can access your application specification from machines outside of
your local network), then all you need to do is submit this URL. That
said, I'd encourage you to look into alternative hosting schemes
before submitting since popular applications have taken down many a
server in the past. Some developers use Google App Engine (which is
currently free) to host their spec. Others invest in computational
resources from Joyent and other service providers for a fee every
month. I highly encourage you to look into one of these options.

2. When you first submit an application, it must be reviewed before it
can be listed in orkut's directory. You should receive an email from
the team when your review is complete. After this, you can change your
application at will without any further reviews, although we go
through apps from time to time to determine whether they're breaking
any of the guidelines laid out at http://code.google.com/apis/orkut/docs/orkutdevguidelines.html.

So to answer your question, when you want to add new themes, just add
the themes and the necessary UI edits to your application spec and
associated JavaScript files. Once the cache expires, your changes will
be visible immediately to existing users -- no re-submission required.

3. See #2 above. In a nutshell, once your app is approved, you can
continue editing your spec and any changes you make will be visible to
all users once your app's cache expires. You don't need to resubmit or
email the orkut team.

I guess there is not! better use any static and all time up server like google pages or else use open social apps hosting service!

The app XML url can't be changed once submitted. Please refrain from using google pages for hosting it, there have been cases when google pages threw bandwidth exceed errors on app xmls. Better use google appengine or amazon S3 for hosting the xml.
 
I think the information that app xml URL can't be changed later should be made sticky in group or told to developer while he is submitting the app to directory.

To manually flush the cache
- Install the OpenSocial Developer App: http://osda.appspot.com/
- Click on the 'Tools' tab
- Enter the URL of the gadget xml and click on 'Refresh Cache'
