Where to get started.

I am new to Orkut and would like to port my Facebook app that I have
written into Orkut.
It is a RESTful application, that is to say I am using the REST
interface to get information into my application.

I am trying to figure out where to start with Orkut. I am using
Groovy, or Java to do this. Is there any pointers on how I can do
this. My biggest problem is how to start with authentication.
