I've created an eventbrite for our State of the Union event!
Register now!!!

We're still working on the agenda, but a big shout out to Paul Lindner & Google for hosting us in their San Francisco office. If there's a topic you want covered, or if you've got something you'd like to present, start a thread on this group and we'll do our best to work it in.

Now, I don't want to set too many expectations, but Google IO sold out in less than an hour. These tickets are HOT and will probably be around only 30 minutes!!

Great, looking forward to that.

Maybe it would be interesting to do some kind of introduction slot at the beginning, where each attendee (or one of each company/organization present) can do a short (max 5min) presentation about what they are doing with OpenSocial and Shindig.

+1 on having people do a intro slot/demo what they are working on at
the beginning. Maybee in the morning before Mark gives his state of
the Union Address?

Having something where everyone gets 5 mins to present or even walk
around the room poster session/ look at my laptop, helps those of use
that have to give business justification for travel approval to the
event.

I think this is a great idea. In the past though, having the "everyone talks for 5 min" tends to run on and becomes very difficult to manage in terms of time.

What's worked well in the past for some sessions is a poster session. We could easily do this during the happy hour / networking session at the end. We could try to add something like "Ask me about my poster session" to the name tags of those displaying stuff.

Would this work??

One possible way to limit the time of every speaker to max 5 minutes would be to make this ignite style (20 slides which have to be handed in before the event, that will be auto advanced every 15 seconds).

It would be great if someone from NYC attending the State of the Union meeting, could brief those of us who are not able to make it out, at an OpenSocialNYC Meetup in NYC. I will be happy to help organize it. Anyone volunteering to summarize the State of the Union during a Meetup in NYC?

Could we do a bit of both?
Maybe use the 5 min as "advertisement" for the poster sessions? That is, at 5pm we could have this be kind of "open mic" / poster session kickoff?
