for my viewing pleasure and yours, i created a jEdit syntax mode so
that the HTML, JavaScript and comments would be in the standard
highlighted colors.
follow the install directions here

you will also need to empty your "recent.xml" found in your settings
directory of any entries, but the root xml tag.
on my windows machine the directory was
C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\.jedit
