I am proposing a function that takes identical parameters to
opensocial.requestNavigateTo() and returns the URL that would be
loaded, had requestNavigateTo() been called with the same parameters.

The purpose of this function would be to obtain links to user's
profiles and application canvases that could be used in activity
streams or non-opensocial container websites.

Note that this would ideally include a target OWNER id parameter, as
proposed here:

This seems pretty related to the other thread about container URL templates vs. a JS method for creating URLs. We may not choose to go with template URLs, but if we do, maybe they should also include a parameter for OWNER.

Yeah - Arne in the spreadsheet I am collapsing this thread with the one Graham mentioned here:
http://groups.google.com/group/opensocial-and-gadgets-spec/browse_thread/thread/bfb8c9aaee0ef762

The discussion is already taking place. If the decision is to make a requestUrl for (or whatever) we will include an owner parameter in it (as your other thread was already so successful.

Thanks.

That's fine - I hadn't noticed that the templated url discussion had covered this topic.
