I just want to announce an extraordinary resource prepared by our allies in Open-source Judaism, the Sefaria Project. Kol hakavod and a heart huzzah! for their achievement and contribution.

Dear Sefaria Community,

Today, we're proud to share the release of the Sefaria Haggadah. Our haggadah represents some of the greatest features Sefaria has to offer -- bilingual texts, multiple commentaries, and the spirit of collaboration. The haggadah includes:

  • Hebrew text from daat (with our own careful edits to correct typos, errors and omissions).
  • An English translation from Francis Nataf.
  • Eight classic Haggadah commentaries, translated into English by Rabbi Mark Greenspan of the Oceanside Jewish Center and contributed to the public domain via the CC-BY license.
  • A thoughtful structure and visual arrangement on our site. You may notice that this text is our first to be organized by name (Kadesh, Urchatz, Karpas, etc.) rather than by numbers (1, 2, 3).

You can learn more from our content director Ari Elias-Bachrach on our blog.

We’re also happy to share some exciting developments with our Source Sheets. In addition to a revamped look and feel, Source Sheets now include title citations in Hebrew as well as English (our most popular user request!) and standardized controls that apply to all sources, outside sources and comments.

Finally, since you’ve last heard from us, we now have 30 million words of text on Sefaria, including 1 million words of translation created by Sefaria contributors.

Thank you for your contributions. We look forward to announcing more new developments, more new Torah, and more innovative opportunities for learning and exploration.

Best,

Daniel Septimus
