I currently have some text that I would like transfer from DavkaWriter 7 to LibreOffice. I'm trying to ultimately export the document as an epub but I can't get the layout right. When I export the file as an .rtf it opens in Libre with the correct font but it is not aligned to the right and all the word wraps force the first word to appear on the line below the text. When I use copying is for Unicode and paste the text into Libre it changes the font I had (DavkaRashi or RashiD) to a mix of fonts that are not Rashi. The box says Rashi but the font is not Rashi nor DavkaRashi nor RashiD. When I choose any of the former two fonts which I know are actually Rashi fonts from the drop down menu I get gibberish. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Maybe advanced text layout can't be done in Libre maybe I need Scribus any thoughts would be helpful.

Thanks

Ben,

Rather than attempt any export from Davka, your best bet (in my experience) is to open the Davka file in DavkaWriter, select all (CTRL-A), copy all (CTRL-C), and then paste (CTRL-V) into a new LibreOffice Writer document.

Specific to our interest though, what document are you migrating and will you share it with an Open Content license through the Open Siddur Project?

Also, keep in mind that the opensiddur-tech list is the discussion list for all matters technical, document migration included: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/opensiddur-tech

opensiddur-talk's been a very quiet discussion list but it's really devoted more to matters of liturgy and liturgy related work.
