Dear all,

Apologies for the delay, I probably should have sent this email a month ago... I hope you all had a great summer, and unfortunately already a taste of what Autumn has in stock!

Anyway, with Tom being far from UCD, Adam and myself offered to carry on the effort and keep the meetings going, as it is very useful place for new and experiemented next-generation sequencing users to share their experience and issues, and discuss them together.

All suggestions are welcome for new activities to consider during those meetings. This is a very casual and informal meeting, usually every other week. The usual activities were:
  • Journal club sessions
    • pipelines, algorithms, software, ...
  • Presentation of on-going work and results or issues

I suggest that we meet next week Monday 7th of October at 2pm (after the Bioinformatics seminar). I will confirm the room booking ASAP, hopefully seminar room 1 or 2.

Does anyone have something they would like to discuss for that meeting? Current work, detail of RNA-seq pipelines, article, ... ?

Feel free to invite anyone who may be interested to join the group, so they receive the emails.

Kind regards,
Kevin

HI everyone,

I got us the interactive hub from 2-3pm on Mondays until the 5th of May next year. (booked every week)

Maybe we could simply meet this Monday and figure out who's doing what, the on-going and future experiments, to get a feel of what is happening this year, and who might have something to present over the next few weeks?
If anyone already has something they would like to discuss, feel free to bring a few slides to spark the discussion, or share the link to an article on this mailing list so that people can read it and print it before the meeting.

Any other suggestion is welcome ! I'm just throwing ideas to give some momentum !

Regards,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I think it would be great to get this rolling again and am going to be there on Monday!

Thanks for organising this,

Hi all,

Even though there is no PhD Seminar today, I think we should maintain the OpenSequencing meeting. Karsten told me he would come from Trinity today, and as I wrote last week I think it would be nice to have an idea of what people are doing with next-gen sequencing in UCD this year.

Hope to see you in the interactive hub at 2pm. Invite anyone who may be interested !

Kevin
