Newbie Question - Sorting candidates by criteria

Hello all, I'm working on a project for college for a GIS class. What
I'm interested in tracking is contributions to turnout and whether
there's a correlation between the amounts donated in a region to each
party and its vote totals. I'm doing this just for my state
(Virginia)

What I need to do is take the candidates and sort them by whether
they're running for a race Virginians vote in (VA House seat, VA
Senate, President), or if it's a VA donor giving money to an out of
state Democrat or Republican). Is there some table with this
information that I'm not noticing? I currently have
CRP_PFDRangeData.xls, CRP_IDS.xls and indivs_Virginia08.csv. Is there
a table that I haven't downloaded that lists {candidateID, race,
party}? Which xls or csv is that in? Is it in one of those files and
I'm just obtuse? I've already got to get my voting data manually from
the VA Board of Elections site, so I'm dreading manually checking 750
candidates' party and race.

Ignore this. I wound up finding it. Missed on of the sheets on the
CRP spreadsheets. At this point, simple "IF" excel statements do the
rest of the work for me.
