Firms unique ids (CRP_id)

I'm trying to construct a dataset for firm-level lobbying.

Is there a table that lists the parent names with the CRP ID? I see theres a list of lobbyists with their unique IDs, but I couldn't find a similar list mapping firms with their unique ids. 

Also, has anyone already constructed such a dataset or has liked these firm names to identifiers such as cusip or permno, etc?

Here's what I know:

There is no PAC data with gvkey and permno. You have to manually check the names. Nobody has shared the matching. I'd love it if someone did.

For lobbying data: (http://www.LobbyView.org) has matching between lobbying and gvkey. Here, the data are not available in bulk. I would love some type of matching between gvkey and CRP_ID as you suggest after you go through lobbyview. I have not done so yet.

Hi Linda,

 

Lobbyview.org (https://www.lobbyview.org/#!/) has firm level lobbying data with a gvkey (used by compustat).  I have not verified the data, but it does appear to have the information you need.  It will require some API knowledge to get the data.

Thank you so much for the information. I will look into the LobbyView data. It seems to have what I need for lobbying, though I'm also looking to create similar dataset with PAC data. It sounds like for that data, I'll need to match firm names still.

Hi Linda,

I am also working on trying to match the firms names with the PAC data. Have you come up with any measures yet? I have tried matching firms with their exact firm names or even tried Firm-Exec route , and haven't had much luck. Have you figured out anything on this?
