Hello,
I have run into an issue with co-ordinate system location reporting
(for the current mouse position).

What I've noticed is that co-ordinates as they appear reported in
decimal degrees in OpenScales (including in the current web based
demo) are not accurate.

For example, positions reported in the OpenScales web demo (I'm using
the Legal Informations Sample), do not match the same position as
shown or reported by Bing Maps, Google Maps or Yahoo Maps.

I've built OpenScales test apps using v2.0 and v1.2 respectively, in
which I'm seeing the same behaviour.

I can set the map.center attribute with long/lat values retrieved from
Yahoo PlaceFinder, and I'm seeing the same amount of error occuring
with these coordinates also.

There is an older implementation of OpenScales available online that
does seem to work as expected.

This can be found at:

http://flexmappers.com/openscalessolution

If I navigate manually to the same location in this example, the
decimal co-ordinates are reported as expected.

If anyone can set me straight, I'd be most appreciative :)

Thanks,
Evan

Hi,

Could you provide more input (screenshot or exact location where you found mistakes)? I compared locations with Openscales/Google maps and could not replicate errors.

thanks

Hi,

I did lots of positioning precision tests and it is acurate. I even
compared with my own implementation of coordinate system convertion
classes and it was all right. I thing the layer you are seeing on your
map is shifted, so check that out. Mapnik layer in this current
version is shifted, so maybe, the layer you are looking at is shifted
as well.

I confirm what is said above, we currently have a problem with Mapnik layer positionning. We are working on it. Could you try your measurement on some over layer and let us know if you still see errors?
