Hi and thanks for your interest in Openscales. As a matter of fact, Flash is no longer as popular as it used to be. Back in the days, the main objective of Openscales was to provide a good GIS library when Flash was the most efgicient web technology.

Nowadays, Javascript has made a huge step forward and is everywhere. Flash slowly take his leave from first grade web technologies.

Consequently, I would recommend you to take a look at OpenLayers or Leaflet which are the two serious GIS solution.

Note that there is no scheduled shutdown of OS, only that development is in a hiatus.

Best regards

Hadrien

Hi,

I'm currently using Google Maps Flash API with in my Flex Application. Google already depreacted the Flash API and will close the service 09/2014 and recommend to use the Javascript API. Yahoo already closed his Maps service for Flash since 09/2011.

Is there also a scheduled shut down for OpenScales?

My two options are changing my complete Application to using JavaScript or something else. or I will only change my Maps API to OpenScale. What dou think is the better solution?

Thank you very much
Dennis

I would like to add that Javascript is very far away from replacing Flash.
It is just forcefully switch.
