From the workshop leaders:
LoRa radio takes IoT to heretofore unexplored locations, to distant places.
We will be holding a workshop at which participants build single-channel LoRa gateways and nodes … and you could participate in our pilot program for FREE. To qualify for our pilot session we need you to be special. After all, we’re providing over $50 worth of components, a free education and guided-build experience and pizza too! After we have worked out the bugs from this first program then the workshop will become available to others but for a fee.
So, who are we looking for? Foremost, we want to know you’ll do something with what you’ll learn and with the hardware you’ll receive. The best way for us to determine this is if you have a use-case for long distance Internet of Things that you care about. Next, we’re looking for some level of technical readiness in this first session so it flows fairly smoothly and so we can get constructive feedback. We’ll be asking you to bring your laptop, that you have experience working with the Arduino IDE and you are comfortable with soldering.
If you’re a hardware hacker who's been messing around with IoT and who has a great use-case for LoRa then you’ll likely be a shoo-in. However, there are only five slots in this first session so write us a note (
Travi...@gmail.com,
Doug....@gmail.com) explaining why you should be in this first session and assuring us that you’ll come prepared.
Here are the where, when and who details that you need to know:
Where: La Jolla Riford Library
When: Saturday, January 14 from 10:00 till 2:00
Who: Instructors Doug LaRue and Travis Good
We bring the components, the soldering tools, and the knowhow.
You come to learn and build and network with IoT hackers.
Then we all disburse and build our LoRa IoT prototypes!
We look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers, Travis and Doug
