I wanted to see how others are approaching this problem to broach a discussion on if there's a case to create a new bid response field for seat name (to accompany the id field in the seatbid object).
Most of the traditional, multi-channel DSPs are completely transparent with their Seat ID to Seat Name mapping documents. However, they're still manually sent over email and we (an SSP) don't get a notification as they add new seats to their platform.
Several mobile and video specific DSPs don't share this transparent methodology though. In these cases, Seat IDs are provided but without a mapping doc. As we interact with trading desks in market we instruct these companies to procure their Seat ID from their DSP to then send to us (SSP) to populate our mapping tables.
This approach creates friction and a lot of non-uniform datasets in our publisher reporting, deal & inventory packaging tools (which require Seat).
Has anyone shared this problem? If so, will you share the solution you employed?
