[Directions API] — Route to Closed Area

Hi!

There are some cases when a route cannot be properly built if a destination point is in a closed area.

Here is an example route:

https://maps.openrouteservice.org/directions?n1=60.004157&n2=29.715142&n3=14&a=59.93428,30.335099,59.996763,29.700944&b=4a&c=0&k1=en-US&k2=km

The point B is in the closed area. And the route cannot reach this point because of that. Though it is possible to pass to the closed area. E.g. Yandex and Google can build this route correctly (see screenshots).

Is there a way to overcome this issue using OpenRouteService Directions API?

Hi Michael,

thank you for pointing this out. Could you please check OpenStreetMap.org for this specific area? Are they open and traversable for cars?

I'm using this link:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/directions?engine=osrm_car&route=59.9277%2C30.3458%3B59.9955%2C29.7016#map=15/59.9982/29.7091

It works the same way when I use "By car (GraphHopper)". And it sometimes works as expected if I use "By car (OSRM)" or it doesn't build this route at all. But I has been able to get the correct route somehow:

this most likely has got something to do with the openstreetmap data we use for the route network; eventually we are missing something here. Can you please open an issue on

Hi Tim!

Could you say how long fixing this issue can take? One of my projects is using this route. And I'm trying to understand should I do some workaround for now or I can just wait for the fix from your engineers.

I am also using OpenRouteService to get the directions in US. Since you guyz already have a solution build on this, I was wondering if you could point me to a document which provides the coverage stats or availability of data in different countries just like this one: https://developers.google.com/maps/coverage
