Hello all,

I just had a good call with Max Froumentin from the World Wide Web Foundation.  As has already been mentioned on this list, they are having a mobile dev workshop in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania on June 4th and 5th:  http://public.webfoundation.org/2011/01/MW4D_WS/.  We want to gauge interest in having a formal OpenRosa Workshop meeting at this meeting, similar to what we did with OpenMRS in September.  The World Wide Web Foundation would still need to determine if this is a feasible option, but we wanted to determine if there was sufficient interest.  There is some travel funding available already to attend the conference, whether or not an OpenRosa Workshop is held, details are available on the above link.  We could potentially also seek additional funding if there was significant interest from the OpenRosa community.

I've made a google spreadsheet.  If you have an interest in attending, please fill out this form in the next few days:

Cheers,
Jonathan

Hi Jon,

It sounds like a great workshop to , but I suppose its just worth underlining that the GSMA mhealth summit in Cape Town is the 6-9 June too (http://www.mobilehealthsummit.com/), so anything OpenRosa may have to be prior to workshop.

I also suppose that critical mass would be a key deciding factor - the benefit of OpenMRS was that many OpenRosas had to be there anyway - as well as new guys likely to join. I suppose this second point might be important, as the interest in xforms (given ODK, commcare etc) continues to grow.

Best wishes,
Kieran

Hi All,

To follow-up on this: we had good enthusiasm but not quite a critical mass.  So, while there will not be an official OpenRosa workshop, we'll look for other opportunities where we can all get together soon.

Cheers,
Jonathan
