Hi all,

We have an OpenROAD application with an Oracle database back-end
(using the Oracle Gateway). We have very limited OpenROAD development
skills locally.

So, I'm wondering whether anyone knows of any tools that port (or help
to port) OpenROAD applications to .Net or Java?

Alternatively, are there any companies that provide a service to do
this?

thanks in advance!

Glenn,

If you are in the UK contact Lumiary - http://www.luminary.co.uk/menu.shtml they
will be able to help.

Regards

Frank.

Hi all,

thanks in advance!

If any one can do this, it is Luminary. Luminary have been known to work
for non-UK clients.

One word of caution, I know of a few cases where migrations were either
started or considered and ultimately abandoned in favor of both:

* training in house developers on 4gl
* contracting a 4gl team (often Luminary) to modernize the look and
feel of the application and add linkage to Java/.NET interfaces.
Also including training on the updated code

The reasons were always cost and speed of development.

Obviously from my email address you can seen I have some bias ;-)

Hi,

I work for Lumbermens Mutual Group near Chicago, IL and we had
Luminary do our upgrade from OpenRoad 4.1 to OpenRoad 2006. I work on
an AIX platform.

They did a fantastic job and were very professional. They also gave
me some badly needed training.

Thanks,
Susan Reinecke-Masak
