A Bloomberg report today caught our attention: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-10-04/stanford-grads-stock-trading-app-is-indonesia-s-newest-unicorn. Two Stanford graduates built an online stock trading platform  in Indonesia. After several financing rounds, including the most recent one, it has reached a valuation of $1 billion, making it an official unicorn company.

This company, Ajaib, which has the logo of Aladdin's lamp, is a user of OpenResty Inc. product OpenResty Edge. With the superb WAF support of OpenResty Edge, Ajaib is able to sustain the market of the fourth most populous country in the world with very low hardware and software cost. In our jointly conducted tests, OpenResty Edge easily outperformed the benchmark software by a factor of 10 for the same request structure.

Some history

OpenResty is a well-known open source traffic management software, developed by Yichun Zhang more than a decade ago and put into use by the open source community. There are 34,000,000+ websites currently using OpenResty. It also has the world's third largest market share of open source traffic management software.

OpenResty Edge is a commercially supported version developed by Yichun Zhang after he started his own company. It is based on the open source OpenResty and has been greatly improved and optimized. OpenResty Edge has a complete set of rich features and superb performance, and has been adopted by many companies in the industry as the base software framework.
