Hi All,

We've been using OpenRem for some time but are still having issues setting up the fluoro alert notifications. Our IT team have confirmed that they have whitelisted the PC on which we're running OpenRem and told us the port settings to use but we're still getting an error message. Help please!

Error message:

Warning! Test e-mail failed: [Errno 10061] No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

From our localsettings file:

EMAIL_HOST = 'RHMSTP1'
EMAIL_PORT = 23
EMAIL_HOST_USER = ''
EMAIL_HOST_PASSWORD = ''
EMAIL_USE_TLS = False
EMAIL_USE_SSL = False
EMAIL_DOSE_ALERT_SENDER = 'OpenREMD...@uhs.nhs.uk'
EMAIL_OPENREM_URL = 'http://10.168.233.115/'
EMAIL_TIMEOUT = 300

Thanks in advance,

Fiona Wall

That is an unusual port to use - port 25 is the normal one. I assume they have deliberately asked you to use that port?

Have you restarted the service since you modified the settings file? That file is only read on startup, so that could also be an issue.

Kind regards

Ed

Hi Fiona,

We use the alert feature on our Windows-based OpenREM installation.

In our local_settings.py file we have completed the "EMAIL_HOST_USER" and "EMAIL_HOST_PASSWORD" fields - yours are blank.

Our "EMAIL_HOST" is entered as an IP address, rather than a host name - I don't think that should matter, as long as your OpenREM server can see that host name on the network.
Our "EMAIL_USE_TLS" is set to "True" - presumably your IT colleagues have said you need to have yours set to False.
Our "EMAIL_PORT" is set to 25 - presumably your IT colleagues have said you need to use 23.
I don't have an "EMAIL_TIMEOUT" setting at all in my local_settings.py file.

I hope that's of some help.

Kind regards,

David
