Dear OpenREM Windows users,

I have been helping another centre to install and configure OpenREM 1.0.0b2 on a Windows Server based computer.

We have been following this documentation: https://docs.openrem.org/en/1.0.0b2/install_windows.html

We have encountered an issue with IIS. When we go to http://localhost/ we're presented with a server error 500 page (attached).

If we run the server from a command line using the line below I can get to the web interface without a problem:

d:\openrem\venv\scripts\python.exe d:\openrem\venv\lib\site-packages\openrem\manage.py runserver 0.0.0.0:8000

This suggests that the problem is the configuration of IIS, rather than OpenREM itself.

The IIS log entries are not helpful - they don't contain any specific information on what the error is.

Can anyone suggest what to try, or where to look for more helpful IIS logs?

Kind regards,

David

Hi David,

Did you change the IIS application pool identity as stated in the manual? If I do that, I also get the error (I wonder if it has something to do with the permissions for the user). If I keep it on the default "ApplicationPoolIdentity", it works fine.

So, following the steps in the manual except for changing the application pool identity works for me.

Best,
Luuk

Dear Luuk and other users,

We haven't change the IIS application pool identity, so we don't think it is that.

We've been through the IIS configuration again today, but without success.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks,

David
