Hello - I just downloaded OpenRefine 3.1 today and it's great. But I can't seem to install any extensions.
and trying to install the rdf-extension which I downloaded from here: https://github.com/sparkica/rdf-extension
(I tried to go straight to refine.deri.ie but the site cannot be reached)

The only extension that shows up for me is Wikidata. No RDF.

Other things it might be useful to know:
My OS is Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
I was using OpenRefine in Firefox 63.0.3. I tried clearing my cache in hopes that the RDF extension would show up, but it didn't. I then switched to using OpenRefine in Chrome version 70. Still no RDF extension.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Hi Shanna,

Did you put it in the right folder?
Where did you put it? Is it possible to share the file path.

Kind regards,
Olivier

Hi Shanna,

The RDF extension has not been released for OpenRefine 3.1 yet.
You can download it for OpenRefine 3.0 here:
https://github.com/stkenny/grefine-rdf-extension/releases/tag/v1.0.1

List of extensions supported and notes about them are further down on our Downloads page:

Hi Olivier -

It's in ...AppData\Local\OpenRefine\extensions
AppData\Local\OpenRefine is what opens when I click "Browse workspace directory" so I made an "extensions" folder there as per the directions here: https://github.com/OpenRefine/OpenRefine/wiki/Installing-Extensions

The note at the bottom of the page says it's also possible to put it in the same directory where OpenRefine is - OpenRefine\webapp\extensions - so I also tried that. Neither one has worked.

Just now I went back and installed OpenRefine 3.0 (as per other commenters below) and did these steps and it still doesn't show up. So perhaps I'm not putting it in the right folder?

Thanks,
-Shanna

Aha,

it needs to be in ‎⁨Macintosh HD⁩ ▸ ⁨Applications⁩ ▸ ⁨OpenRefine⁩ ▸ ⁨Contents⁩ ▸ ⁨Resources⁩ ▸ ⁨webapp⁩ ▸ ⁨extensions⁩.

that might solve the issue. Just drop the unzipped folder in extensions.

regards,
Olivier

I don't have a "Contents" or "Resources" folder in my OpenRefine file structure. Here is a screenshot of what the file structure looks like right after install:

You missed the webapp/ folder ... click on it and then /extensions/

As I updated the Wiki page to help you understand...

For Windows

You can choose to install extensions within the directory in which you have installed Refine itself. ../OpenRefine/webapp/extensions. This may be easier to find, but may not keep extensions installed if you add a different version of OpenRefine to your system.

Based on this convo, I'm pretty sure I have it in the correct folder. It's in webapp/extensions.

2018-12-12_1359.png

There it is - rdf-extension-master.

It's throwing some sort of error trying to load it, but I don't know enough to make sense of it. Perhaps this screenshot will help:

You'll need to download the latest release (currently 1.0.1) and remove that older rdf-extension-master folder

Unpack the Release zip file to a sub-directory of the extensions folder of OpenRefine e.g., extensions/rdf-extension

Gosh I hate to post this when it seems like the answers MUST already be here in this thread.  It may just be that the answer is "Packet Rat: you just can't get there from here!!!"

We are very interested in testing OpenRefine as a means to batch translate/normalize/transform various N-triples, Turtle, and JSON-LD files into various RDF output files.

I'm trying to get RDF Extensions (ANY working instance) to work with OpenRefine 3.1.

I have tried every variation of the instructions below that I can think of (some I would be embarrassed to share ...ya know.. dead chickens, full moon, ;-)

Is there currently a working RDF Extension for 3.1?

Is there currently an ERROR ?  :)

Welcome Patrick.  It would be helpful to start with problem statements, mentioning what error you get when you do x,y,z.  Then with that info, we can help you.

The symptoms yesterday was that OpenRefine would just hand indefinitely on startup.  I went back to re-create steps and collect logs and now everything works fine.

Mac OS 10.14.3

java version "11.0.2" 2019-01-15 LTS

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 18.9 (build 11.0.2+9-LTS)

Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 18.9 (build 11.0.2+9-LTS, mixed mode)

Recap
(1) I located and wiped out any and all instances and artifacts from prior OpenRefine installations

(2) I installed with OpenRefine 3.1 with Homebrew

brew cask uninstall openrefine

brew cask install openrefine

brew cask reinstall openrefine

(3) I created a folder called "rdf-extension" in ⁨Applications⁩/OpenRefine⁩/⁨Contents⁩/Resources⁩/⁨webapp⁩/⁨extensions⁩.

and copied the [Modules] folder from the zip archive into the new extensions folder.

This time everything worked:
