OpenRefine 3.6 won't launch as root:wheel

Hi all!   We deploy OpenRefine with munki -- this deploys all apps with root:wheel permissions:

drwxr-xr-x    3 root       wheel     96 Jul 29 08:42 OpenRefine.app

OpenRefine 3.5 worked with these permissions, but 3.6 just doesn't launch:

 /applications % /Applications/OpenRefine.app/Contents/MacOS/JavaAppLauncher 

12:06:42.194 [            refine_server] Starting Server bound to '127.0.0.1:3333' (0ms)

12:06:42.245 [            refine_server] Warning: Failed to find web application at '/Applications/OpenRefine.app/webapp' (51ms)

setting the permissions to <logged in user>:wheel works -- but we can't deploy that in a lab situation.

Can somebody take a look at the app and see if you can make it function with root:wheel permissions?
