Hi Dev Team,

In case you missed it, back in September, Jeff Allen from Jython posted on their dev mailing list that there's a plan (no timeline), but a plan for a minimum viable product for Jython 3.

The future looks a bit brighter and his experiments with a MethodHandler for "pointer to function" have paid off and so conceptually things are very much possible now, but requires much work.  Ideally and long term, he also envisions a compiler to JVM byte code, and would need a Python byte code interpreter in Jython, with performance in the Cpython ball-park, which would be enough to get a Jython 3 out.
