Hey All,

Love the Open-RC project and I'm keen to get into it.

Just wondering, Can I print all the parts in PLA or are there some parts that absolutely require ABS?

So Far I've seen minor discussion around Rims needing ABS. (Which I can purchase if needed, although I would like to try PLA if possible)

Also the differential assembly also needing ABS although I'm not too sure if even ABS will be able to hold up?

Are there any other parts that must be ABS?

Also I've read that nylon may also be an option as it's stronger and is somewhat printable on the Makerbot rep 2 without a heated build plate?

Any help / discussion would be great.

Cheers,
Shannon

Are you going to use it on hot summer days?  PLA warps so fast here in the south in the summer; for that reason, if no other, I'm doing mine in ABS.    Nylon would likely do great, although I'm not sure how it would affect the elasticity of the printed shocks.

I am planning on using XT-Polyester for all the moving parts since it is stronger than PLA. For all other body parts I will use PLA as it is cheaper and is sufficient for the needs.
