Hello guys,

Was just looking at some of the RSPS504502 data, and I'm just a little bit confused of what some of the groupings here are.

If we take Birmingham New St, obviously it's in the Birmingham Stations group which I know to be 0418 - but then what are the others..? Additionally, if there's a dataset of what these groups actually mean, then that'd help too, but it's just quite confusing how there's seemingly 3 different groups attached to the Birmingham Stations mapping.

0418 is BIRMINGHAM NEW STREET OR MOOR
J809 is BIRMINGHAM+BUSWM

Not sure what H441 is

H441 and J809 are what are known as TAPSIS codes (Travel Agents, Private Settlements & Irish Stations). They are allocated to non-rail locations instead of NLCs, allowing for fares revenue to be allocated to the relevant non-rail third party where part of the fare covers non-rail travel: e.g. buses, farreies, admission.

At a guess, H441 and J809 are non-rail destinations in Birmingham where New Street would be the railhead for the change to the non-rail part of the journey. If you have access to the fares feed, the fares locations file will tell you what these two codes are.

H441 is SEALIFE BHAM according to the LOC file in the RSPS5045 data. I assume this comes from some rather niche (and potentially defunct) arrangement for through tickets that included entry to or transport to the Sealife Centre. There's rather a lot of these sort of NLCs from current or past through ticketing arrangements to various attractions.
