Good morning all,

A question about maintaining the history of association creation, and deletion. Firstly would I be right in saying that the association only arrives from the CIF, and that there is no other mechanism that amends or updates the association raw (i.e., perhaps through VSTP or something similar)

The problem I seem to have is that when I take a full CIF on Saturday morning, this rewrites all of the import_version_id  for that week and replaces the date with the date of the full CIF import.

Is this correct behavior?

Many thanks in advance.

Yes it is.

A full CIF update file is effectively starting again from scratch with all previous alterations combined into the base data. If you wish to hold historic updates and amends you will need to store them elsewhere.

Hi Derek,

Is there a reason you're taking a full CIF every Saturday? Usually once you've imported your first full CIF, you can just take the daily update files every day forever after, and then the history is properly maintained in your database.

Kind regards,

Oscar

Good morning,

Thank you for all the responses.

The only reason I was taking a full CIF every Saturday morning was that I thought it was the right thing to do. Obviously, I should have spoken to this group beforehand, and I find myself now with a costly error. To be fair, when I started building this project, I didn't know about this group, which is obviously a vast wealth of knowledge.

Many thanks.
