Hi,

I was keen for an update on the data provided as part of the formationloading tag. I've done my best to hunt through groups in this community, but I've not seen an update since 2021/2020.

From my analysis, it seems the Darwin Push Port feeds (STOMP/XML or Kafka/JSON) only have TOC data for Greater Anglia and the Elizabeth line. Is there any update on when other TOC data will be provided? I wonder if timelines have shifted now some of these organisations are in public ownership...

Thanks for the help,
Robbie

Robbie,

Here is my understanding. Some TOCs push their loading data into Darwin which then appears in the various feeds. I thought that 5 of them did this, but I haven’t look at the data in detail. There is a defined data structure to push the data into Darwin.

DfT has been encouraging TOCs to publish their loading data in native format onto RDM  and many have done that. However, a number of the intercity TOCs have successfully argued that this data is commercially sensitive, and access to their data is restricted to public bodies.

DfT and GBR are conscious of the challenges of numerous datasets of various structures and measurement methodology, and are keen to try to resolve it, but this is unlikely to be a quick task and is likely to require scarce funding.

Bottom line, the current level of Darwin loading data is unlikely to be augmented any time soon.

Cheers

Jez
