Hi
I received January a new CIF spec version 30 with new ATOC codes and a few other bits. I can upload it to the wiki if I'm allowed re copyright.
Just wondering if anyone knows or can clarify what the new Activity Codes mean?

# Force Stops with TW (Non exportable) (Unlimited)
* Suppression of Traffic Stop Indicator (Unlimited)
. Type ACT: None (Unlimited)
( Force Running Line indicator (Unlimited)
{} Force Path & Line indicator (Unlimited)
} Force Path indication (Unlimited)
X{ Suppress running line indicator

I'm guessing the first one means the train must stop when used with activity code TW, the others refer to the train must use the indicated path or line?

To date I haven't seen any in my received timetables that I can recall. Not sure if there's any other significant activity changes. Thankyou

If you have explicit permission from Network Rail, as the front page of this document says "It shall not be reproduced in whole or in part, nor disclosed to a third party, without the written permission of...", then please forward that permission to me and upload it to the wiki.

Bear in mind that the most significant change to the CIF structure in the last 20 years has been the applicability of a change-en-route record for locations where the train doesn't stop, and the BUSSEC (business sector) field being used by the old New Reservation System after CRS was decommissioned.

Just wondering if anyone knows or can clarify what the new Activity Codes mean?

The activities relating to line and path indications sound like a workaround where line/path data is to be shown in the CIF where it wouldn't normally be shown, e.g. if an issue is found with Automatic Route Setting (ARS) or downstream systems which need line and path data.  Similar with X{.

I am not aware that these activities are actually passed in to the CIF - the may affect processing of data that is presented via the CIF though.  You are best to check with Network Rail what the state of play is.
