Morning guys.

I've found a FOI request from last year (19 November 2018) which resulted in a spreadsheet compiled by Network Rail of all TIPLOCS in the UK along with latitude and longitude. Just thought I'd share in case anyone else is looking for this data - I've attached it as a CSV.

Cheers,

Dom

I’ve just had a quick flick through this and while they all have latitude / longitude points, several are completely wrong.

49.766809, -7.5571598 is a common point which appears to be quite a distance to the west of the Scilly Isles and appears in 2000+ records.

That will be 0,0 in British National Grid

If you're looking to put some TIPLOCs onto a map, NaPTAN has mappings of TIPLOC to Lat/Long if that's what you're looking for. I don't think this covers all of the TIPLOCs but might be a good starting point.

Indeed. I had assumed that it would be more accurate straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak. Alas, I'll most likely combine them.

NaPTAN is a good reference source although the geographic locations are suspect.

It has a lot of entries with dummy locations the last time I checked - most don't use 0,0 for them either so it can be hit & miss detecting them but if memory serves some of the dummy entries are like 7777, 8888 & 9999 or similar for either easting or northing values.

Also some that are sort of real are way off from the actual railway, some stations can be miles away from it's true location & I remember even finding some that are in West London being reported as being in the East instead.
