Evening All,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of the LENNON Rail Ticket DB and whether it is available to query via any API be it publicly available OR one of the licenseable products?

If anyone has any contacts that could share on this topic where I might be able to discuss specific use case scenarios it would be much appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Lee

Hi Lee

LENNON is an Atos system (the contract ends in 2018, I think) and if it's anything like the others, the chances of a public API are slim to zero.  Although I've never used it, I believe it contains data on ticket sales and revenue, so it may be 'commercially sensitive'.

I'll be in the same room as some LENNON people tomorrow - I'll see if I can find out anything for you and report back here.

Hi Lee,

LENNON is not something you really query. Typically you upload your daily sales via SFTP. The format (SDCI+) is quite arcane. It essentially tracks all the sequence numbers you see on ticket faces.

Saying that, there is LENNON reference data which you can download via SFTP but it's mostly useless.

The LENNON replacement programme is being worked on at the moment but I haven't heard any details of what will come out of it yet.

As a side note I went to the NRS replacement (RARS) day last week and it looked quite good. I meant to do a write up here but haven't had the time.

Cheers,

Linus

I should also add that the TOCS receive reports from LENNON about ticket sales. I don't know much about those but I don't believe there is an API.

I've worked in a previous job on what were (as I remember) LENNON exports which were named FEED A and FEED C, which we fed into a BI system to give a number of TOCs revenue information between stations etc.for corporate customers, but this data was highly confidential and was available to us via large CSV exports, there was no API access at all to the data

Cheers!

Kevin
