I've noticed the following intriguing statement on the open data area of the Network Rail website (https://www.networkrail.co.uk/who-we-are/transparency-and-ethics/transparency/open-data-feeds/)

"Network Rail intends to publish Trackcentreline data via API."

Does anyone know what this is?

A Track Centreline is a way to describe the middle point of a set of rails. You plot these on a map to show where the rail lines run.
If NR publishes this data, you should be able to describe any specific pair of rails as a spatial object (a line with multiple points!) on a map.

I'm going to make an educated guess that this is the data at https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/the_networklinks_dataset?unfold=1 - plus some more.  Although with documentation, hopefully!
