Sorry in advance for my bad english skill.

I want to know every possible public transportation in GB. According to my self research for one day, I can retrieve rail way timetable via Network rail and bus timetable via Traveline National Dataset (TNDS) but I found out that the NR timetable doesn't cover some rail way route in GB yet (such as London Underground) so my first questions are 1. How can I suppose to know the rest of other rail way and bus timetables in GB apart from 2 sources I mentioned. 2. Could you suggest data sources to cover all public transportation timetable in GB or at most ?

Thank you

Hello

NaPTaN is probably what you need

Hello,

The TNDS actually covers not just buses, but other modes of transport (other than national rail). For example, we at Transport for London publish timetables for London Underground, DLR and London Trams to the TNDS (in the London zip folder, "L.zip"). This is all in TransXChange format.

I should note that, although TfL publishes timetable data to the TNDS, we recommend downloading our timetables from us directly, using the "Journey Planner timetables" link on our API documentation page, which is updated more frequently. If you have any questions about TfL open data specifically, feel free to ask on our Tech Forum.

I will also mention the Bus Open Data Service (from the Department of Transport) which is relatively new and, whilst it focuses on buses, also includes timetable data for other modes in both TransXChange and GTFS formats. If you register for a free account, you can access the download links from the timetables data page.

NaPTAN and NPTG are very useful datasets that provide information about all kinds of stop, station or pier across Great Britain. They don't include timetable data themselves, but timetable data from TNDS, BODS or TfL's open data reference NaPTAN/NPTG, so you may need both for the complete picture.

I hope this helps!

I tend to use BODS in GTFS format since it's relatively lightweight compared to the other formats, as other people have mentioned the 'bus' in the name is a red herring, covers all scheduled public transport modes apart from heavy rail.

and then I use my fork of UK2GTFS to convert rail timetables into GTFS format so I've got them all in the same format.

The BODS data set also doesn't cover domestic flights as well. Does anyone have
any good source for schedule data for domestic air services?

Thanks,
Michael

Well, no, BODS doesn't cover domestic flights because it's for *Bus* Open Data.

A bit like this group is for Open *Rail* Data, not domestic air services.

Hi Peter,

Do you know any good place for technical discussion on multi-modal, mode-and-
operator agnostic transport data, which covers the use of open data on all
transport modes (like public transport, bike share, walking, cycling,
minicabs, etc.) in Great Britain?

Thanks,
Michael

FYI - this is off-topic for this list.
