StationsRefData.xml download

[WantStuff]

I'm trying to download the StationsRefData.xml file using an automated process. 

It have been confirmed by RDM that it is not possible to download via code (e.g. FTP, HTTP, Rest, S3, etc). It is only possible to download manually from the portal, or provide a cloud storage prover for them to push the file on a schedule.

Has anyone found an alternative to signing up with a cloud provider just for files like this?

Hello

In Manage > File Transfers, you can select SFTP Transfers and have the files SFTP'd to you.

I would have thought that API access to the files, e.g. "get latest", "get list of files", "get this specific file" would have been one of the key features of the specification for an Open Data platform such as RDM.

Not sure if it's on this particular product but sftp is also option (but fiddly setup) if that helps avoid some cloud stuff

Weird, I only see these options:

1. AWS S3
2. Azure Blob Storage
3. Google Cloud Storage
   

Pushing to an SFTP path would be better, but still requires consumers to provide an always on PC/Server. 

I'm not sure why they are no longer providing a download (pull) route. Especially considering they do provide this in other areas using Google Signed URLs (e.g. Pushport Snapshots)

Do you not see 'SFTP transfers' next to 'File transfers'?

It's always been there, it's just that it's not designed in such a way as to draw your eye to the fact there are options.

Like some of the other pages on RDM, there's functionality which is really difficult to discover unless you know what you're looking for.
