It's only for staff. A username/password was leaked and was widely used
by vast numbers of enthusiasts and others a few years ago, but access
has been tightened up.

Good news, however - the LDB Staff API is due to be opened up some time
this year, so you can build your own site using the same data.

What services is that likely to offer not currently in (the various flavours of) Darwin?

There's only one Darwin, but there are multiple services that take data
from Darwin, including:

* The public Live Departure Boards Web Service (LDBWS) has passenger
trains and a simple request/response API
* The staff Live Departure Boards Web Service (LDBSV) has empty
passenger trains, headcodes and non-calling points, and a
straightforward API, however more interpretation is required client-side

Think of these as similar to anything somebody taking data from the Push
Port has - they're really just clients of an existing stream of data.

Internal industry systems, such as Tyrell and CCIL and, in some cases,
TRUST DA, contain details of what's failed and where - but they also
contain personal information (such as the names and contact details for
staff involved) so aren't available to the public.

The NRE Incidents XML feed might be what you're looking for - although
it is geared toward passenger information rather than what you seem to
be looking for, which is internal info.

Have a read of
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/static/documents/NRE_Feeds_Developer_Pack_v_01-01.pdf
- section 7 at the end tells you how to apply for access.

Hi Ben,

It looks like you simply want an arrivals (or departures) board, so what you need is the (already available) public Live Departure Boards Web Service.

If (like most people) you don't like dealing with SOAP services then you can use the proxy I made to get JSON: https://github.com/jpsingleton/Huxley

This URL gives the arrivals at Paddington: https://huxley.apphb.com/arrivals/pad/25?accessToken=DA1C7740-9DA0-11E4-80E6-A920340000B1
You can vary the number of arrivals from 25 in the URL.

Cheers
James

Hi Ben,

That is the Public CIS (PubCIS) service which as I understand it is available on application - no coding required, just Internet access and a web browser.

Details are in section 3.3 of the document Peter linked to above, contact info for application in section 7 but I think the email address shown is incorrect - inforservices might been to be infoservices
