Hello,

In the past Peter Mount operated an enormously useful archive of messages from various open rail data feeds at https://archive.area51.dev. But this site seems to have gone down (judging by the Internet Archive, maybe around January) - does anyone know what happened to it?

In any case, Peter, I believe you read this list: thanks for operating the archive so long. It was an incredibly useful resource.

Best wishes,
Gaelan

Looks like the domain isn't registered any more. I knew he fell off the face of fedi, a bit ago but
didn't look too much into it, didn't realise that was (maybe) why

The latest post on Peter's blog has some explanation. https://area-51.blog/2025/04/09/so-long-and-thanks-for-all-the-fish/

That isn't an easy read.  Two of my friends have recently had some life-changing health chronic health issues which have affected their ability to do what they love doing.

Peter has contributed substantially to this community over the years in some of the best ways possible: consistently, authentically and positively.  Although I hadn't actively noticed his lack of posting, I hope that if he's reading this at some point in the future, he knows how much of a quiet but powerful impact he's made, and how many people (lots of whom will never be known) have benefited from his help and contributions.

That is really sad to hear I used to speak with Peter quite a bit over on Twitter until he simply disappeared one day, always wondered what happened.

When I read the first few paragraphs I thought "sounds like he must be in his mid/late 70s - very sad, but these things happen"

Then I saw the bit where he said he will be 55 this year - a year younger than myself :-(

Anyone else on here the 'wrong side' of 50??

I'm sorry to hear this.

I may be able to help depending on what data feed archive you are interested in (and what time period)

I have Darwin push port and NROD feeds for about 1.5 years and growing.

If this is something that people would find useful it might be a service that can be set up - in the meantime I could possibly serve you a batch of data?

I also forgot to mention I was eventually able to get peters NREA Darwin framework up and running. Had to make some tiny edits to some go files and populate missing configuration in the main config file. But have it up and running and it works really well. Give me a shout if anyone wants the changes :)

Be great for Peters fantastic feed to live on!

I’ll continue to offer it on the UKDB boards long as Darwin v16 is available.
