Hi everyone,
I want to obtain damage results based on  probability of exceedances ( for example %2, %10  probability of exceedance in 50 yrs). Even if I define poes and 50 yrs as investigation time , damage results are just single value. However, I have  obtained losses  based on poes. I would be appreciated if someone could help me.

Thank you.

Hi Melis,

The classical_damage calculator estimates the expected number of buildings in each damage state for each asset in the risk_investigation_time. If you divide these by the number of buildings comprising each asset, then you would get the probability of occurrence of each damage state for each asset in the risk_investigation_time.

We have recently added the other type of output you are seeking to the event_based_damage calculator. If you provide a consequences file specifying the collapse ratio given complete damage for each building class in your exposure model, the engine will calculate the expected number of 'collapsed' buildings at different return periods. Please see the sample job attached. Depending on the engine version you are using, the relevant output should be called either "Aggregate Damage Curves" or "Aggregate Risk Curves". The return periods in this output can of course be converted easily to probabilities of exceedance. At present, this output supports only the 'collapsed' damage state.

Best regards,
Anirudh

Thank you for your reply.   As I understand, ıf I define risk investigation time as 2475 , I will  obtain damages  for 2475 return period earthquake ?
In addition I tried to run Classical_damage calculation which exist in risk demo file. But when I run the file I obtained only hazard output.  I usually create combined job.ini file which include hazard and risk paramater. So how can i run the file to get damage results of demo classical_damage files?

Thank you so much.

Melis, could you please clarify what output you would like to get?
If it is about losses (not count of building that are in certain damage states with some probability), maybe you want to just define conditional_loss_poes (manual):

this parameter can be used to request the computation of probabilistic loss maps, which give the loss levels exceeded at the specified
probabilities of exceedance over the time period specified by risk_investigation_time.
The probabilities of exceedance for which the loss maps should be computed must be provided as a comma separated list.
If this parameter is not included in the configuration file, probabilistic loss maps will not be computed.

(for getting damage outputs please run job_risk.ini on top of running job_hazard.ini in the ClassicalDamage demo, but you will not get results for defined probabilities by that)

If I did not understand correctly, please explain your desired output...
Peter

Thank you so much  for your reply. But I had no problem about getting losses result. I could obtained losses maps based on their probability of exceedence rate. (%2 for 50 years, % 10 for 50 years)
The problem is that I also want to reach damage result (number of buildings for damage state)  with the the same probability of exceedance (such as %2 for 50 years, % 10 for 50 years). I defined risk_investigation_time=2475. which is for %2 probability of exceedance within 50 years earthquake  ) When I review damage results, most of buildings are in collapse which is not make sense. So how can I get the damage results for different probability of exceedance levels?

Thank you so much
