Could someone please provide an example of how one would rescale the total moment rate for smoothed seismicity models?
That is, a smooth seismicity model for a seismic source zone is generated for a rectangular grid, where the area of the rectangular grid is larger than that of a seismic source zone (a polygon sitting inside the rectangular grid), requiring rescaling of the total moment rate, i.e. the correction needed to account for seismicity being dissipated over a larger area in the smoothed rectangular model than in the seismic source zone if the smoothed model is to be recast into the seismic source zone polygon.

Thanks!
