We have taken our database of multivalue users and vendors and have begun
mapping them using Google Maps and eventually Google Earth. Our goal, albeit
a lofty one, is to eventually map 80%-90% of the user community world wide.
We believe that this tool can be a very valuable contribution to the
mvCommunity. End-Users can use it to view resources available (Developers,
Consultants or Vendors) in their area. Vendors can use it to demonstrate
the strength and diversity of the mvCommunity, locally and globally, in
their sales endeavors.
To make this the powerful tool that I know it can be, we need the help of
the community. We are asking for everyone's help in identifying as many of
the multivalue End Users, Vendors and Software products as possible. Send us
the name of your employer, your past employers, MV Vendors, the applications
that you've worked with, the MV Tools that you've used and of course, your
name. We want to map all things multivalue. To contribute, you can use the
contact us page, or email your contributions to in...@mvcommunitymap.com.
Contributions should contain at a minimum the Company Name or Developers
Name, City, State or Zip/Postal Code and Country. If a product, Product
Name, Vendor Name and Zip/Postal Code & Country.
All information received will be kept confidential but we will contact
companies and individuals to confirm their current multivalue status.
Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing your feedback.

I just got an error on your map:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')' in /var/www/mvworld/eumap.php on line 151
I clicked end users and up it popped. I just did it again to make sure it was repeatable.
I'm on Firefox 3.6.15 on XP Professional.

Thanks for pointing that out. I must of accidentally put a parenthesis in
this afternoon. Please give it another try and it should be working
properly. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback.
1) We are busy getting sites verified and entered. Unfortunately, we need to
default to a private setting for everyone. As companies sign up to go
public, more detailed information will be displayed when a bubble is
clicked.
2) Excellent point that I hadn't thought of. What if I give a link that
allows the map to be opened in a separate window, full page?
3) This is an issue I had also thought of but hadn't implemented yet. I'm
going to try to implement the feature tonight.

I would put an entry in in as a consultant/vendor if I could choose to
have the data be exposed.

Vendors do have the choice to expose their company profile information.
It's just not included in the free service, after all, it is advertising.
Vendors also have a choice in what is displayed in their company profile,
such as Name, Address, City, State, Zip, Phone and a Message. At this time
we are limiting the message portion to around 50 characters. This limitation
may change in the future.
Dubya, we are still in the process of collecting vendor & user demographic
information. It is our intent to publish, at least some of that information
as part of the users company profile. Some of the demographics that we are
collecting is industry, Years in Business, # of locations, Databases used,
O/S, # of Users, # of Licenses. I hope to be able to begin publishing some
of that information within the next few weeks.
This is niche marketing. We are happy to provide the free service that
delivers a quick visual representation of the market. This alone will
benefit the mvCommunity. And, we are happy to advertise and promote your
Company and Services, just not for free.
[AD] We offer a couple of subscription based programs, where starting for
less than $10 a month you can have your company profile published on the
site. We are also offering a 6 month subscription free for any vendor that
also contributes a minimum list of 10 end users.[/AD]
As always, you have the choice of keeping your end-user list private and
anonymous by just submitting your internal Customer Number, their Zip/Postal
Code and country. Optionally, if you could submit the soundex equivalent of
the company name this would go a long way in keeping anonymous duplications
down to a minimum, while still maintaining a good degree of anonymity. As I
said, this is optional.
A note on the use of the zip/postal codes. For mapping, in the USA we are
only using the 5 digit zip, for everyone else, we are using what has been
provided. If this postal code is too accurate, please let us know and we
will work with you to identify and use an acceptable alternative, such as
city.
We still need the help of the mvCommunity, especially the international
mvCommunity, to produce a map that more accurately reflects the vendor and
user base throughout the world. If you want to help, please call or email
us with any questions, comments or suggestions that you might have.
Thanks to all that have contributed already and to those that are about to.

Yes, I will add that to the list of requested features. I'm beginning the
process to make the map pages a lot more dynamic. This will allow for
filtering options and potentially faster page loads as well.
Thanks for the suggestion, any others?
