Are there any standard/system exceptions that can be caught (like variable not assigned a value)?  If so what would this catch be:

a = 1
try
  a->notanobject()
catch {exception}
  crt @EXCEPTION
end

would be cool to be able to catch exceptions like this.

Hi Marshall,

Currently, the exception system is totally separate from the abort mechanisms. We have a development in plan to add the ability to catch standard abort events but this is not as easy as it may seem.

I am sure that it will happen but I cannot put a date on it yet.

Thanks Martin - I would MUCH rather that you spend your time on things like this, things that only you can do, rather than on communications which have already been done by any number of others in the field, and which are readily available. Please capitalize on the opportunity to tout QM's ability to integrate with other tools, rather than accepting the burden of adding some non-DBMS function into the platform that already exists elsewhere. And of course, per Kevin's suggestion, please focus on improving those points of integration so that we can make better use of existing tools, and perhaps minimize the number of requests for you to add some unrelated feature directly into the platform.

Best,

T

Hi Tony,

It has always been our stated position that QM is a core database product and that external tools will usually be sourced from third parties. The connectivity features of QM will continue to be developed as new requirements emerge.
