I have someone interested in Ipad and wonder what terminal type is available.  It is some seventeen years since a minor excursion into Apricot the source opsys will still be Windows.  Although you never know I might like it enough to try myself :-).

I'd be interested to understand the user acceptance level of dumb terminal displays via tablets. I'm curious about what the target audience is like and how you're going to pitch them.

This seems like the old developer's solution to new tech. But when people purchase these devices, especially iOS, they expect an ultra-modern UI. It seems unproductive to try to deliver a Character-UI (CUI) in this environment. Or rather - you can force employees to use a UI like this but I don't think you'll ever sell an app with this as the main UI. And yet for all of the reasons why we appreciate the CUI, perhaps it's not such folly after all. We've discussed options in the past (and I've written a number of blogs on this stuff), from browser UI (BUI) and plugins to thick-apps with dedicated code (Objective-C, Java, ..NET) or cross-platform tools (Xamarin, PhoneGap)…

Personally I think much of the touch screen interface is more in line with our cui.full screen.larger fonts.no popups.i have been testing a windows 8 tablet and my accuterm text app works better than windows apps.

Hi
It is nothing to do with a new sale.  They simply have a desire to log in occasionally when away from the office.  I have seen TinyTerm and I had forgotten that Carnation aka the Loves from Austin Texas were the original emulation on Apple people.  Still going strong apparently. However their MacWise which I have every faith in requires a Mac in the office in order to use an Ipad - perfect for their market but no use for me.
I have been using Windows 8 and found that the key pair <windows> d is the most useful.  I have just loaded D3 and it seems to work fine.  Having Full screen automatic on a 24" display is useless and one has to search for things like right click on Internet Explorer to go to sensible size.  Definitely designed for the next generation of tablets which the boss of Blackberry says will be dead and gone in under five years - targets are moving faster than ever these days :-(
